INTERNATIONAL music artists have taken to their home studios to record exclusive tracks to feature in the new Hand Wash Tunes skill available on Alexa.
Musical timer skill to help washing your hands
This musical timer skill created by Vixen Labs in collaboration with Sony Music, features 20-second tracks from a range of international artists including Dodie, JP Saxe and Scouting For Girls.
From the start of the pandemic it was clear washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds was one way to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
At Vixen Labs we could see the potential of a hands-free timer activated by voice. Not only would it ensure you had spent a full 20 seconds focussing on a thorough hand wash, but you also wouldn’t need to touch a surface with possibly germy or wet hands to switch it on or off.
We also saw the opportunity to work with Sony Music to make use of the timer to play exclusive music clips recorded by well-known global artists. It was the chance to add a moment of fun to an otherwise mundane task.
“It’s great to be able to do something, however little, to help people, so we were delighted to work with Sony Music Entertainment on a hand washing skill.”
Scouting for Girls frontman Roy Stride

“There’s an added bonus with this skill because the tracks are from all genres and are on random rotation, which means you can discover new music while washing your hands. It’s great for all ages – particularly when it comes to encouraging little ones to wash their hands properly.”
Vixen Labs CEO James Poulter
